2008 Batizado
VADCO and Omulu Guanabara Capoeira Group and will host the 2008 International Batizado Festival held in May 2008.
Capoeira is an African Brazilian movement that combines dance, martial arts, music, acrobatics and self-defense.
Batizado is the "batism" of new students into Capoeira. Students at the event will have the opportunity to be promoted to the next belt level. Guest instructors from San Francisco and Oakland California, as well as from Wisconsin and New York will attend the event.
Special guest, Mestre Preguica, head of the Omulu Capoeira Group will be attending the event. Mestre Preguica has been teaching Capoeira for over 40 years and is a student of Mestre Bimba who created Capoeira Regional. Mestre Di Mola will also be making a special appearance at this years festival. He has made capoeira his profession and travelled all over Brazil, the US and Europe and is currently living in Sweden.
